Parish Governance

As a Parish within the Church in Wales, we are bound to follow the regulations documented within the The Constitution of the Church in Wales

Benefice CHURCH COUNCIL (BCC)

The BCC is the executive committee of the Ministry Area of Llantrisant. It consists of the Rector of Llantrisant, Parish Priests, churchwardens and representatives of the laity.

The council is responsible for the financial affairs of the church parish and the maintenance of its assets (our church) and for promoting the mission of the church.

Every year, an Annual Vestry Meeting convenes (before 30th April) to undertake the following:

  1. The Parochial Church Council Annual Report and Financial Statements (in accordance with the provisions of the Charities Acts);
  2. Other reports in as far as they are not included in the BCC Annual Report;
  3. Elections of members to the BCC.

Upon election of the BCC, it meets on a regular basis (normally every 6 to 8 weeks) to discuss and consider matters regarding the management of the church.

Safeguarding

The Parish of Llantwit Fardre is committed to fostering an environment where everyone is able to worship and participate in the life of the church in safety. The church therefore:

  • robustly and consistently implements safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • promotes a culture which listens to children, young people and adults at risk.
  • ensures that when concerns are raised they are taken seriously and dealt with appropriately.
  • appropriately recruits, trains and supports all those in a position of trust.

All church workers including, but not limited to, clergy, employees and volunteers are regarded by the Church in Wales as persons working in positions of trust within the church and as such are expected to adhere to its safeguarding policy and procedures as found in the Church in Wales Safeguarding Policy.
